Suspension Tuning Difficulty?
Unless noted otherwise, these tuning tips apply to both forks and rear shocks.
Symptoms: Not using full travel, feels harsh, poor traction while making turns
Causes: Overly stiff spring or compression damping. Oil or air damping resistance felt when trying to compress a shock or fork.
Solutions: Lower air pressure or softer coil springs; reduce compression damping
Symptoms: Bottoms out, soft throughout travel
Causes: Spring RateForce required to compress a spring one inch. too low throughout travel or too little compression damping
Solutions: More air pressure or stiffer coils springs; increase compression damping
Symptoms: Harsh over large bumps, but good over small ones
Causes: Compression damping too high
Solutions: Reduce compression damping
Symptoms: Excessive sag Amount a shock or fork compresses with the rider sitting on the bike in a normal riding position. Best measured with an assistant holding your bike up and with the rider in full riding gear. On a fork, it is helpful to place a ZIP tie around one of the upper tubes., feels soft initially but does not bottom out
Causes: Initial spring rate or Preload Initial force placed on an air or coil spring. too low
Solutions: Increase air pressure or spring preload
Symptoms: Harsh over small bumps but uses full travel
Causes: Initial spring rate or preload too high, or too much compression damping
Solutions: Lower air pressure or install softer springs; reduce compression damping; reduce spring preload
Symptoms: Takes first bump in a series well but harsh over later bumps, poor traction in washboard corners
Causes: Too much rebound dampingair damping resistance that controls the rate at which the shock or fork extends after being compressed.
Solutions: Reduce rebound damping, if adjustable
Symptoms: Front end springs back too quickly after bumps, poor traction in bumpy corners
Causes: Not enough rebound damping
Solutions: Increase rebound damping, if adjustable
Symptoms: Lockout not working
Causes: Not enough suspension fluid in the damper; RLC forks only: blowoff threshold knob is fully counterclockwise
Solutions: Check damper suspension fluid level; RLC forks only: turn blowoff threshold knob fully clockwise then cycle fork a few times
All these quoted from FoxRacingShox Online Manual 07. Personally feel that applicable to all FOX Racing Shox and similar function fork or shock from other brands. Thx FoxRacingShox for the useful Tips.

Spend the Budget Wisely
You are able to spend 4k,10k,20k for your bike, why not a small little RM200 for basic equipments? What do i mean by safety equipments? They are helmet and gloves. A lot of people said that frame size come 1st b4 anything when u buy a bike. Nothing wrong with that statement, but if u were to ride the bike, safety should come 1st b4 anything.
How much you value your safety?
Let stop all the rubbish talks, this topic is actually to guide you what bike to buy @ certain Range of Budget. I will suggest the best buy and it might subject to change due to preference (example: riding style) and all comments below made without any intention to provoke anybody.
I'm a student/new to mtb. My budget 1k. What bike should i go for?
"RockBike/Nexus Xcalibur"
Both bike basically using the same parts. Alloy frame, double wall rims and 9speed. With the RM1k u can either get 1 of them and it is more than enough to get a Helmet and a pair of gloves.
My budget is around 2k, and i look for something better. Any suggestion?
Brand New, i highly recommand you KHS Alite 1000/1000D, they are simply the best value for the money. 9 speed with deore or X7 parts. The spec might differ with the official webpage due to some unforseen reason. What are they? Ask the retailer for more information.
I earn a little more than others. I got budget around 2k to 4k. I dont mind have 2nd bike if the condition is good. Pls suggest.
This is a pretty good budget. If were to spot on 2nd hand bike, u might able to get higher ends. How high is that? Probably around 25 lbs (only applicable if u look for XC bike).
I want brand new. My budget4k-6k. I dont want anything used. I'm allegic to other's people ass.
With this budget, you can get a pretty high end XC hardtail. And probably around 23-25lbs. The weight is only an estimation and it might vary from what u'll get. Air Fork + X9/XT parts. And good wheelset too.
10k? - probably u can get a super lightweigh bike with carbon frame + XTR + carbon cockpit + Cross max.
20K?- halo dude, you are fucking rich. Buy Ti bike.
Anyway, remember that. Safety come first b4 ride. Spare some money for basic safety equipments. Hope these junk can helps. Leave your comment down there.

Hardtail'ers Test The Efficiency of Bear Bells
What is bear bell? The pic above show u what it is. Before the talk of efficientcy, i would like to highlight something. Hardtail'ers motto is to let rider to know more about hardtail, and our objective is to gather all the hardtailers and share the experience with us. FS rider is welcome to join our ride also, and we make no offense to FS rider.
Participant: NKeong The Woofer, Nkeat The Tweeter, Cs The Major.
Guest: Jason The Fish, Shaun (Man of The Day)
Vanue: Rover Track @ Frim.com
Rover Track: Why here? Because here full of bears? No! Rover Track was our choosen one because there are a lot of joggers in the trail. It was/is the best place to test out the efficiency of the Bear Bells or "long long" in cantonese.
Efficiency:"Jingle Bells, Long Long Bells, Long Long all the way, jogger see me pls give way, thk you we'll say". We had found out that the bell, create good awareness to the jorger. But, some of the joggers choose to ignore it. Most of the jogger, will kind enough to spare you 1 more meter space to pass through. How good good are them?
Silencer: Work on flat and not on bumpy terrain. Consider efficient enaugh to reduce the noice.
Value of Money: 4/5
How much it cost? Price is always up and down. So we prefer to remain silent on this question. :-)

Hardtail'ers 1st Ride to the Frim
Vanue: Frim
Rider: Woofer, Tweeter, Major, Fish, Shaun
Time: 8am - 10:30am
On this beautiful morning, the Hardtail'ers had decided to have a ride @ FRIM to test out the "long long". We reached there about 8am and met Jason and his friend, Shaun. As i said before, we are concern about hardtails and not bias towards hardtails only. Full suspensioners are also welcome to ride and photo sesstion with us.
1st, we rode up to the Rover track. We had our 1st stop @ "Rover's Pondok". And wow, we heard "[Tiger Roar]". Want to know more about it? Ask NKeong The Woofer for more information. And we had a nice photo session there. But sadly, our camera's battery ran low, and shutter speed not fast enough, made the photo's quality not that good. Sorry about that. Will bring spare next time.
After that we continue our ride. 2nd stop @ Pondok where bottom of Steroid Hill. Met some hardtail'ers and took some shot on the Proton T Blaze. NKeat the Tweeter had found a nice DH Trail, and everyone of us was played there about 1/2hour. Then only we continue the ride to the pond, then finish the ride.
As usual, the main objective. Of course, we eat "wan tan min" @ the stall. And NK start to explain the "Tiger Roar" with some hand sign. But not "mlm-.-mlm", dont worry. All were healty sign.

Report From Woofer
We (NKs) started out quite early.. Woke up at 6am that morning, started preparing and all. Since we were early, picked CS up and then had breakfast. Went to the mamak @ SS15. Had myself a good serving of roti canai + milo O ais. The kari ikan was the KILLER ! Just coz the dhall was tasteless...
Once met up with fish & fren Shaun (newbie), so starts our ride in FRIM. Head straight to Rover Track. Whole idea was to test out the long long mar. The jinggling was really really LOUD, but annoying to some extend .
Been very long since I climb up Rover, all these while been going Rover Reserve. Since I had my tarmac fall at the end of Rover trail, phobia liow ! Forced myself to cycle up, slowly but surely, I was making my way up.. So was the roti canai & kari ikan !
The moment I reached pondok, didn't know that CS had already barf. I sat down for less than 60s. Could feel the it coming out.. So lean over the pondok and made (what they call now) my tiger ROAR ! At that time, where can remember anything wor ? Own name also forget liow lar..
After that I could see some walkers/joggers stopped to see what was happening. So malu woi !
It was fun riding with fish & Shaun.. Especially towards the end of the ride, @ the Steriod pondok. Coming DH between the rubber trees. And then off towards the pond trail.. Watch Video !
During our wan than minn TCSS session, only I realised how loud my was.. Fish, where can control volume wan ? & thanks for the tissue. Spent a long time talking cog & laughing @ the wan than minn place, all at my expense.. But honestly despite the vomitting, it was a FUN ride. Thanks to all the guys ! Plus the great video & photos we got..

Hardtail'ers Is now born!!!
Hardtails. what does it mean? You cant find this word in Oxford dictionary. Does this word exist? Basically no.But there is "hard tail". Does it bring any meaning? No, it does not. If were to translate, it will be "ekor keras" in Malay and "硬尾巴" in Mandarin.
What does it have to do with mountain biking? Of couse it does play an importand role in Mountain Biking. MountainBike start with hardtail then only full suspension. Hardtail was and is the foundation of the mountain bike. Before go any further, i would like to explain what is "Hardtail".
Hardtail = a frame that consists of at least 2 triangles, and without a suspension. After build up with other components, it will be a hardtail. Some of the hardtail consist of three triangles. No matter there is a front suspension or not, it still a hardtail. Road frame also hardtail? i don't know. How about u give me the answer @ Hardtail'ers Cafe.
Our motto here, is to create a resort for hartailers. We have no intention to create any conflict with Full Suspensioner. We are here to exchange our experience, and share our rides. If you are on a FS, you can also join us. As long as you want to know more about hartail, and u got loads of knowledge about hardtail. Do not hesitate to share with us.
Nowadays, a lot of riders choose hardtail because of budget constrain. They always say, "if i got the money, HT is not my choice". No worries, we accept that. Because i believe he is not close to hardtail yet. He might know what is hardtail, but dont know how far the hardtail is able to go. One of our reason to created this resort, is to let you know "The Hardtail is more than what you know". And long travel seems to be a trend than a "need". As you go to local bike shop(lbs) you can see the salesmen are pushing the long travel bike.
For those who are already a hardtail maniac, dont keep the knowledge to yourself. Come on, join us. Tell us more about hardtail. Regardless of hardcore or XC hardtail. Come and join us. Share your titanium hardtail with us. I know you also want to share with us all about your hardtail[s]. Am i right?
Are we a team? NO! We are a club. Not a team. A team always look for race and looking for victory. We are more to create a space, to gather all the "HT" riders together and sharing experience with each other.
Guys, enjoy your browsing. Fell free to join us @ hardtailers @ yahoo group. If you got any question, happy, sadness, do not hesitate to share with us.
Ride your Hardtail, Enjoy your Hardtail, Molest your Hardtail, Push your Hardtail, Wash your Hardtail but Dont Brake your Hardtail
